Mrs. Mabel L.
Norman, 54, Newport, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, at Lakeview
Medical Center.
Born August 12,
1927 in Sand Ridge, Indiana, she was the daughter of Roy and Myrtle Davies Southard.
She married Charles D. Norman Sr. in Rockville on March 29, 1943. He survives.
She attended
Newport United Methodist Church and was a Past Worthy Matron of Order of
Eastern Star, Chapter 136.
Other survivors
include two daughters, Mary Doughtery of Atlanta, Georgia, and Nancy Tague of
Newport; two sons, Charles D. Jr. and James A., both of Newport; four sisters,
Hazel Burham of Newport, Louise Strow of Chrisman, Illinois, Marie Guinn of
Kingman, and Betty Nolen of Danville, Illinois; two brothers, Paul Southard of
Dana and Russell Southard of Williamsport, and five grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services were
Saturday at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga with Rev. Jimmy Dowers officiating.
Burial was in Thomas Cemetery near Newport. -s
